Twelve members of ‘Llais Ni 'have spent the last few months supporting Barnardo's as they set up a new mental health and well-being service for young people on Anglesey. The GOLAU (which means light) project will be funded over the next three years by the National Lottery Community Fund and will be helping children and young people aged between 8 to 18 across Anglesey.

‘Llais Ni’ members have been responsible for naming the service and for designing the logo and information sheets for GOLAU. They have also designed a scoring sheet to use during the interview process for the new well-being officers, and designed two therapy rooms to support the children, young people and their families.

GOLAU will provide one to one support to those who are struggling with a wide range of problems, including bereavement, self-harm, depression, social isolation, bullying, and family breakdown, and will be working with their families too. The aim is to intervene early so that children do not develop more serious mental health problems.

It was a privilege to be part of the GOLAU launch. Thank you to Barnardo's for the opportunity to play an important part in the development of the service and congratulations to the young people for their hard work!
